The FlexVision XL is the primary 58-inch visual interface for the Azurion surgical suite. Proper calibration is essential to ensure that X-ray overlays and live ultrasound feeds are anatomically aligned. To start calibration, the lead surgeon or technician should use the Touch Screen Module (TSM) located at the tableside. Select the "Layout" tab and choose the "Calibration" sub-menu to bring up the crosshair overlay on the main display.
Once the crosshairs appear, use the joystick on the TSM to align the digital grid with the physical markers on the X-ray detector head. This ensures that "Roadmapping"—the process of overlaying a live X-ray onto a pre-recorded image—is accurate to within a millimeter. If the display seems dim or the colors appear washed out, check that the "Ambient Light Sensor" isn't being blocked by surgical drapes, as this can cause the system to auto-dim the backlight.
Pro-Tip: Calibration should be performed at the start of every shift or whenever the C-arm has been moved between different operating rooms. Even a slight physical jar to the display mounting arm can throw off the overlay alignment, which is critical for catheter-based interventions.
